 🌙 Religious Festivals in Pakistan

1. Eid-ul-Fitr

  • Marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

  • Families gather for prayers, feasts, and giving Eidi (gifts/money to children).

  • Charity (Fitrana) is given to the poor before Eid prayers.


  • 2. Eid-ul-Adha (Bakra Eid)

  • Commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (A.S.) willingness to sacrifice his son.

  • People sacrifice animals (goats, cows, camels) and share meat with family, friends, and the needy.


  • 3. Eid Milad-un-Nabi

  • Celebrates the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

  • Mosques and streets are decorated with lights; gatherings include Naat recitations and processions.


4. Shab-e-Barat

  • Night of blessings and forgiveness.

  • People pray, recite Qur’an, and distribute sweets and food to neighbors and the poor.

  • 5. Ashura (10th Muharram)

  • Observed to remember the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (R.A.) in Karbala.

  • Processions, fasting, and majalis (religious gatherings) are held.
